History Of MEE
In late 1997 a group of business owners joined together to fight against a road closure in their industrial area.
Following their success, they formed a permanent lobby group.
Initially the membership was focused on the original industrial area of Murray Bridge, however when a new industrial area was developed the Estate in 2005 extended their boundaries to encompass businesses in this new developing area. In preparation of the 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide's future development of Murray Bridge, the Estate in 2009 removed their membership boundary restrictions and now membership is open to businesses interested in working with this collaborative group.
In November 2003 members commenced strong lobbying for implementation and upgrade of the reticulated water system for the Estate and within 15 months the project was completed.
When faced with labour shortages, skills gaps and lack of interest in industry apprenticeships and traineeships, members of the Estate devised and implemented an innovative work experience, skill development and training program. The "Steps to $uccess" program commenced in the Estate (MEE) in 2005.
Due to the geographical location, businesses within the Estate faced difficulties in drawing attention to services they provided and in late 2006 commenced lobbying for a major signage project. The unique diversity and capabilities of members enabled the signage project to be developed and manufactured within the Estate and was officially unveiled in September, 2007.
The Estate members do have some fun together and are recognised in the Murray Bridge community for their entries in the Murray Bridge Christmas Pageant, having on several occasions won Best Overall and Most Humorous Floats.
